Title: Scared Chickens
Post by: Helenaj on September 06, 2011, 07:47
Is anyone else's chooks terrified of this windy weather? It's absolutely appalling - gusts of 60mph and lots of trees around my compound. None are likely to fall as they are well rooted, but the creaking is alarming both me and my chooks.

At the moment, they are huddled at the coop door and I've put feed and water in there for them in case they won't come out and frankly I won't blame them if they don't.

Mine are jittery as well.  They don't have any big trees near them, but the shrubs moving in the wind is upsetting them.  They keep sounding the alarm like they have seen a predator but when I go out there, there's nothing.

Hope everyone and their hens stays safe  :)

my big girls and boys are all sheltering under the hedges but the little sabelpoots are tough - they are all out perching on my bonfire pile not sheltering at all  :D

Mine are all scratting about at the top end of the garden, apart from Ruby, who's standing fast asleep with her head under her wing ::)
