Me and a few mates have just gotten a plot and put a shed up on it, at the moment its just rested on the unlevel ground. we will soon be raising it up.

The question is what is best to put under it. my two mates recon just putting it on paving slabs and i recon putting it on pallets.

What would be recomended ?

Thanks Jason

i recon pallets on top of slabs to have a nice gap between the ground and the bottom of the shed to increase air flow

I would use just slabs. A lottie neighbour from a while ago put his new shed on pallets and regretted it. Plenty of room underneath to house lots of rats!!!!! It was overrun within a few months. He eventually removed the pallets put the shed on slabs and has'nt had any probs since! :)

My plotmate put her shed on pallets, the pallets have subsequently rotted and now our shed looks like this:

Actually, with all the rain we've had recently, it looks worse! There's a trick to opening the door, which involves stepping on the top of the pallet to push the board out of the way to get the door open, which in turn tips the whole shed even further!

A mutual friend has just offered us some paving slabs, and we'll be re-siting the shed on those soon!

If you are putting up a shed in your own garden then see this:- http://www.erowell.co.uk/Gardening/Metal-Sheds.html

I can get my hands on breeze blocks. Would this be good for a chicken shed?

That's all either of my wooden ones are on and they are sound.

The trick is getting them all level in all directions at once

Used concrete blocks (not breeze blocks)  under my shed. Used 12 in total, 4 on each of the floor runners. Would think twice about using pallets, ok for a while, but they will rot.
