Feeding Advice Needed

Ok.. so the shed is nearly finished.. I have found my reputable chuck supplier.. The run will be completed for my chucks in the next week or so...
So now I need some advice form all you hen experts.
At what times should my chucks be fed, and how many times a day should they be fed?
I work Mon-Fri and pass my allotment around 7:15 on the way to work and again when I am going home around 17:00.
In the Spring I guess it wouldn't be too much hassle as the light nights will be here, but at the moment it gets dark around 3.30 and I guess its way to late to feed as the chukcs will be getting raedy for bed... wont they?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Andy

I tend to feed mine when I let them out(pellets) & then again about 3ish (corn) :)
I suppose a way round this for you would to buy a food hopper that you could leave filled up all day for the hens :? But just put pellets in it :?

Something like this would be ideal :D There are other firms that sell them that was just the first I found

So long it has a rain guard  to stop the feed getting wet through it should be ok

If you fill 2 feeders 1 corn & 1 pellets to leave all day, you'll come back and the corn will be empty and they wont have touched the layers pellets :D

Well mine wouldn't

Corn is best fed at night, the wheat helps keeps them warm overnight.
So it's tricky :?
The only thing I can think is you put a bit in the coop with them at night, and take it out when you let them out in the morning :?
Maybe you could have one of those automatic cat feeders in the coop set to open at 3pm :?
Other peops might have a better idea :)

Sarah :D
