Hi Just bought red sun shallot sets from Wilko as they were reduced by 75%. Is it too late to plant them this year? or can they be stored until next? Would appreciate advice

They won't store until next year, and they'll probably make little more than spring onion size this year, but if you've got the space, stick them in.

I speak from experience here, as due to illness it was about this time of year I put mine in last year.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

My Dad always uses some of his shallot leaves like spring onions. If you don't get a bulb you can always use the leaves

I plant my spare shallot bulbs in a pot and pull individual bulbs off and use like spring onions.
