You realise with a view like that, we'll have to hate now !  :tongue2: :D

You've chosen well. I'd put up with the lillies and just sit quoffing wine on a lounger. But I suppose real life has to interfere with the dream sooner or later.  ::)

Just thinking laterally about how plants survive ... they need their leaves to produce the energy, recharge the roots, etc etc.  You hear advice to weaken marestail and other perennials by repeated hoeing off.

I wonder whether this would work with your lilies - continuously cut off most of the leaves, and the roots may be weakened and thus the plants too?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Yes, thats what I thought, even if its just to contain them a bit while finding solution. At least we'd have a bit more open water.

Funny, they had a bit on water-lilies in Gardeners World last night. Said not to give them too rich a soil. That may be the problem: mine are planted directly in the bottom, and what with the duck-poo, the fish-poo and the frogs, theyre having a Sunday roast 3 times a day

On the (rare) occasions when we do some sitting-and-sipping, theres always the nagging thought that we should be doing something in the rest of the garden  ???

What a great pic Tode  :D I can now see that some of my suggestions were quite frankly inadequate in the circumstances

I like Yorkie's suggestion of just cutting off leaves and if you take out as much stem as you can as well then there won't be too much rotting going on down under the water.

Sit and sip for now ------------- and enjoy that view  :D

Judging by what I've managed to pull up, I think that chronic constipation would be a problem long before the pond was cleared  :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2:
And boiled fence posts would probably taste better !

You must think that the Frech will eat anything

Advertise it as free PYO organic bush tucker.

Then charge for hosing them off afterwards
As for eating anything.........
do you want less lilies because it`s harder to find the frogs  ::) ;)
