for some more info , ok got 2 gooseberry bushes about 18-20 ins in hight new in begining of the year , no fruit should i be cutting it back now or just let it do its own thing its got nice long branches that open out like an upsiide down cone , one bush is red and the other ordinary green , carnt wait love gooseerrys , we had one in greece but it wasent suited and only fruited the once .

now is a good time to get your bushes pruned into shape, but the best guidance has already been covered in recent threads inc this one

You can prune it if the new branches are too long, but remember that they bear fruit on old wood so leave some of this years growth to be second year and so old wood next year.

Always a bit difficult with gooseberry's I find.
