Anyone know what this is it smells disgusting and has appeared in my garden.

It has strong woody stems and long red Phalic type growth from the middle.  Stands about 3ft at present.  Is it dangerous/poisonous please.

It's some kind of stinky lily that smells like rotting flesh to attract flies to pollinate it. Looks very rude too  :shock:

Like my cat then ! He's got a huge abscess on his head and it stinks.
It's a truly fab plant though in a funny kind of way

When I first move into Hodgepodge Lodge there were loads of lilies running rampant.  They stank like rotting corpses and were hard to eradicate.   Don't let them get a hold as they spread like wildfire underground and even turned up in the lawn. :cry:

There used to be one of those up the road what you had to walk past and they really do stink.its like the smell of rotting meat.

my dad has a plant going up the path i have no idea what its called its more of a bush really but it stinks of wet dog

Yeah funny how some plants pong we had a Choisya ternata Mexican orange blossom plant, beautiful looking but stunk like tom cat, so that went.

It just depends what type of insect they need to attract for pollination.

we used to get those down by the dry river bed but all the wild flowers have gone now cos they have reinforced the sides with bolders in case of flooding .

you need to kil it first with roundup . i believe it has tubers that will grow from half inch, sure someone will correct me
