sowing seedlings without mains water
« on: April 01, 2010, 19:19 »
can anyone remember what the chemical is too add to water butts.
i had lots of problems with seed germination last year on the plot (no mains water).i put it down to harmful organisms in the water butts.
there was a product on the market a few years back which sterilised water in the butts.no doubt it's been banned now lol.

You could always do it the other way round and use Cheshunt on your seed trays.

i always use it.the problem i think lay in the water itself, seeds were attacked and decayed prior to emergence.
i know armillatox can be used to cleanse butts.but im trying to remember a chemical that was used 10 or so years ago.

if you have such a lot why not get the water company to install a tap?

that would defeat the object would it not.my garden is no where near any water mains and it would cost a bomb.
always managed before but the tunnels are making a heavy demand on my precious water butts.

never watered from above, always soak the trays from below and spray with cheshunt compound.
iv'e now got this problem sorted.
