Hi all..  I totally agree with  Rubellite about THORNIT... I have used this product for about 8 years on my Springer Spaniel's ears.    Springers are known to have dodgey ears due to them being long and collecting grass seeds and rubbish on the ear fur...  I also use it on his feet when he gets grass seeds in his toes (long fur again) ...  I use it too on the cats when necessary...  GREAT stuff :)

My cat's ears are greatly improved. The Thornit arrived on Monday and I put some in imediately. He seemed happier very quickly.
His ears look a lot cleaner today (Thursday).  He has shaken almost all of the wax out.
He will allow me to touch his ears now. He used to flinch and run off.
I am also applying the antibiotic drops so I can't say for certain whether the improvement is due to that, or to the Thornit, or due to both together, but if the problem returns I will be applying the Thornit before I see the vet again.
Thanks again for the advice everyone.
I have a persistently itchy place between two toes (mine, not the cat's) and am thinking of applying Thornit to that.
These old remedies are sometimes very effective. I once experienced the results of a bread and sugar poltice on a nasty infected graze on my leg when a child and it gave excellent results.

Yes it did thanks. However, Scoobys ears were too far gone it seems and I had to have him asleep at the vets for a total clean up. He is still on meds as the infection was deep poor Scoobs :(

Poor Scooby. Perhaps when the infection has cleared you can use the Thornit for maintenance
