Purple flower, silver stems and foliage...
« on: July 31, 2019, 06:21 »
Can anyone identify this young lady please?

It is a perennial, and we have several growing in all sorts of places where the soil isn't particularly good - this one is in a barren gravel path and comes back every year!

We had some more in pots for years, and they always thrived despite being in the same soil for far too long! Mrs Growster instructed me to move them to a permanent bed, and they romped away there too!

There are lots of seeds forming now, the blooms shown here are way past their best!

Is it something like lichnis? Don’t think that’s quite  right but I’ll go look, bet Newshoot or Sunny will be ailing soon & they’re sure to know or mum 😊

Yep I was right but wrong spelling lychnis, or campion(red or rose in some cases from a quick google)

Pretty foliage, I have a white one  as well,  it does well in front of other plants, because you can see through it.  I think it is spelled Lychnis.   Mrs Bouquet

Aaaaah; thank you all so much, Ladies!

We were given some seeds ages ago, and never knew then what they were, expecting them to be an annual for some reason!

There's hardly any soil under this one, just concrete rubble, a few bits of sand and little else! We'll move it next year though, as I keep bashing it with the mower, and the fucsias opposite start moaning at me as well, so I have to get away a.s.a.p....

Thanks again!
