Hi,

Seaweed taken from the seashore certainly works, I used to live beside the sea and added loads to my compost bin, it was wonderful for anything leafy, though I never had enough to use for potatoes!

I have a 2.5 lt bottle which i got online, I only use it as a foliar spray, and i'm not sure it makes a lot of difference because I use a lot of manure, garden compost and special potato fertilizer, so there is plenty for the plants to feed on already!

I think it WAS illegal for them to call it a fertilizer in this country, though some bottles has fertilizer on them now, others have (Original Seaweed Extract (Plant Growth Stimulant), all rather confusing!

any one know if tomato plants could be fed with maxicrop by spraying the leaves ? folier feed instead of feeding roots through soil .

I use Maxicrop. It can be used as a foliar feed or through the roots as normal.

I used to use it on my toms if they looked as if they needed a pick me up.
It has trace ellements in it, used to be used primarily as a foliar feed and if i remember rightly it's organic.

I am a massive fan of Maxicrop.

We did some trials one year following poor seedling growth, we tried several options and maxicrop was a clear winner so now there is a loyal following on our site.

I do not know the accounts on this, but seaweed feed is good. Generally so. If you want to economise, by all means can use a cheaper product.

And yes, diluted seaweed feed can be used as a foliar feed.
