Tall caulies
« on: November 22, 2014, 11:10 »
Out of interest....I have never grown caulis before but I thought they were pretty low growing like cabbages. Our's are tall, about three foot to the curd. Is this normal? Or is it because we are in Bulgaria?

Not that it bothers us, cauli is my current favourite veg, I have never had them straight from the garden, they are a revelation! The chooks love the leaves too, though they seem a bit bored of cabbage leaves.

I grew some caulis once, two years ago, and they were as tall as my broccoli plants. (Haven't grown em since bc they turned out to be hot, kinda peppery - weird). I think a lot might depend on the variety you're growing though. Do you know what variety you have?

No idea, got them as bare rooted plants in the market when mine failed (probably because they couldn't take the heat!)
