Title: Climbing Roses
Post by: Glen on June 13, 2008, 20:50
Can anyone suggest a hardy climbing rose that i could plant up the front of our house? Looking for something easy to keep but bright in colour!

Thanks Glen

You don't say, how much space, but Queen Elisabeth climber is a number, they don't come tougher than them.

I love roses but not Queen Elizabeth which I find lacking in perfume. I would suggest for colour and perfume glorie de dijon or etoile de hollande or school girl and the new blue moon is just as beautifully perfumed as the original fersion but much more reliable. I could go on for hours about roses as I love them and have no idea how many different ones I have now. Good luck and let me know what you choose. Plant chives and lavender round it and you wont have a problem with aphids either.

Thanks for the tips and i will let you know what i end up with. I am not interested in the perfume element as much as the visual side. I will look these up and let you know!

Thanks again!

Ah but a rose has to look good and smell good and the ones I've recomended do both in abundence.
