broody orpington
« on: July 13, 2013, 17:05 »
I have just put two 1 day old chicks under my broody orp now she seems to let them under her but then in the next breath its like she is trying to peck them but as soon as they go back under her she stops and they don't look to be hard pecks at all so I was wondering if this sort of behaviour is normal or not

She might only be doing it when you are there and she is just trying to protect them from a threat.

That is great news, they are very protective and will need to bond a little more than if she hatched them.  They grow so quickly so make sure you do lots of chick watching.
