Are courgettes and squashes part of the fruiting vegetable family ??

Yes.

All are in the gourd family of cucumbers.

I suppose strictly speaking there isn't a "fruiting vegetable family". Some vegetables we eat the fruits, some we eat other bits. Squashes and courgettes ARE in the same family botanically speaking - the cucurbits. Potatoes and tomatoes are in the same family, but one's a root and one's a fruit...

What an odd category  ::)

There are a number of articles on this site on crop rotation, see the main index page here

It might be worth seeing what groups you already have on your list, compare them to those on the site, and see what's missing - that might be what they refer to as fruiting veg!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Sounds like a term to distinguish between veg that produces a crop above ground and those that produce what we call root crops.

Makes sense if that is what it is.
