Shredder advice

I bought a silent type shredder for shredding our beach hedge but found the clippings too soft for it.  Just bought another spinner type but have had to send it back because the blades after doing the clippings from the 15 foot front hedge are in such a dreadful state that it would be impossible for it to do the two 80 feet long hedges on the back.  I did not put through thick stuff because I wanted the machine to last and also it rattles your hands so put that into the green council bin.  Advice on a reasonable price good shredder for a beach hedge plus soft weed stuff would be appreciated.

first you dont need to do soft weed stuff , a shreddr is for making slow rotting stuff smaller to let it get activated quicker . the bosch one i have is more than adequate to do hawthorn etc

I have been considering a shredder for hedge clippings, sunflower stems (100s), sweetcorn stems (100's), Jerusalem artichoke stems (100), fruit bush/tree prunings, etc.

But which type can do that and shred straw for use in the poultry house?

I have a mountfield and its awsome. Up to 40mm branches all day long. It just crunches it all up into little chunks

Must admit I used to work for B&Q and these mountfields never came back we had a few bosch back, difference is in the method they used to shred bosch had a corkscrew type shredder, but the mountfield had a kind of cog system.

Most complaints about the  bosch was they got clogged with green stuff.

That's the one I like the look of most, but aswell as the big stems, can I push/chop straw up with it ?

THe mountfield will not chop small stuff. Like Richy says it has a sort of cog thats sharp and crushes the branches into chunks. It chewed up a 30ft apple tree in a afternoon. All branches up to 40mm.

Oh I hope mine is ok when it arrives!  I was laid up and as usual went into depressed credit card overdrive! Went on e. bay and bought a shredder from a german co. (I think) which shreds 40m wood.     At least next time I can't  get out I'll have a new toy to keep me happy.
I know less today than I did yesterday, and I knew nothing then!
