Mountfield M1 Rotavator

Hi there I've acquired a mountfield M1 Rotavator ,but the clutch cable broken ? Leaving the belts tensioned onto the drive belts ,when I replace the cable do I pull the clutch handle into the locked position to start freeing the drive belts up to rotate freely ?,I'm new to this game and could do with a little assistance.

Hello is it the Mountfield M1 that has a detachable system that can be put on a Mountfield M 1 Major rotary mower or the fixed one the last time I used one the Dutch lever has to be pulled to the handle to make the rotors turn,,the belt tensioner should be away from the belts when you replace the cable jezza
