Title: Merry Tiller Carburetor Linkage

Hi All

I have a Type D Merry Tiller that I am trying to get working again but what is stopping me is not knowing how the throttle, governor linkage is set up and what parts of the linkage are actually missing. Looking at the parts diagram doesn't really help. Has anyone got a photo of the setup with a Briggs jet-flo carb?

Hello try R Tellertine on this site he's a Merrytiller expert , I know abit about Briggs engines but haven't seen that type of governor on this engine before I've seen a similar set up on a Mag engine  jezza

You already have, the flo-jet carb mechanism is unusual. I will put up a couple of pics from the B & S workshop manual, but the one showing the top of the L shaped rod is for the fixed speed (generator) engine. for those with throttle cables the top (compression) spring is longer and lighter, and the knurled nut isn't knurled, but has a split pin through it and the rod. The split pin holds the top of this spring in place.

That is absolutely super. Been looking for a diagram like this for ages. It looks as if I am just missing the knurled nut and the clip that the rod passes through but I should be able to create something to do the job.

As I wrote, it isn't a knurled nut on Merry Tillers, in fact it isn't much like a nut at all, a piece of aluminium tube threaded inside. If I remember rightly it just limits how far down the rod can be pulled by the cable, the spring goes over it and is held by the spit pin and a flat washer at the top.
