Just been down to check on the girls, all is ok but was alarmed to see a lot of the white silkies feathers all over the place. Is this a normal time  for moulting, or should I be looking for another reason ?

If it's a silkie chances are she's about to go broody on you.

Oh dear, it only seems a few weeks back when I was doing battle with them, trying to keep them out of the coop. They kept going in and sitting on the welsummers eggs. Shame as I have some eggs in the incy, that are not doing so brilliant.

sadly silkies and silkie crosses love being broody - I am having a battle with one of mine at the moment

Just out of interest is it possible to remove incy eggs and place under broody ?

I can't see why not. Te broody will do all the work for you.
