For indoors, the plastic saucers are cheap and OK.

For outdoors, you can get pot feet but they're not necessarily much cheaper than a saucer.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Cheapest water-catcher for pots has to be ex-supermarket meat trays - not pretty but can be cut down with scissors to make them less noticeable.  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

We use the clear lids off CD and DVD bundles, and odd teacup saucers bought for 10p at jumble sales, some of these can look nice.

When I lived in the Netherlands I use to use Kwark, (Creamy Yoghurt) pots and the lids.

Something that just come to mind that could be used would be the plastic lids from large coffee jars.
If at first you don't succeed, try a different method.

Thanks, some good ideas there. I'll have another look around the house and garage to see what I can find.

Had another idea, ask local pubs what they did with their ashtrays, these would make good plant saucers.

For large pots and containers I use the round metal trays that you find in pubs. You can often get them in charity shops. Having seen the price of plastic saucers in garden centres I got some of the black flower buckets from Morrisons and just cut the bottom inch off with a stanley knife. Makes perfect pot saucers.
