I am thinking of a bucket with a lid, but can't seem to find any  :?

What do you use ? And if bought where did you buy it from please ?

Thanks

And also, being new to this, I am thinking of collecting vegetable and fruit peeling, apple cores and egg shells. Anything else is worth composting ? I think I read egg boxes ? What about paper ?

My daughter uses an old coal bucket  – remember them: brown plastic with a 'gold' trim. Lakeland plastics have really nice crock pots - if you want something that looks nice, but they're pretty expensive.
Try to be organic but will use black fly killer and a few slug pellets if desperate.

No sorry, never heard of plastic coal bucket. And I don't know Lakeland either. Is this a shop ?

I know they do nice metal coal bucket at wilko's. A bit like this :

That would look really nice indeed ! But with no lid I am a bit worried about flies and maybe smell :?

I've got a "Kitchen Waste" bucket - just a white bucket with a lid.  I got it from the same place as my wormery, ( http://www.originalorganics.co.uk/accessories.htm ) but it's stained quited badly now.  How about a nappy bucket?  I also have biodegradable paper bags which go on the heap as is.  Dry bulk stuff like pea pods etc just goes in a trug as I'm at the plot several times a day when harvesting and processing!

A big ice cream tub with a lid might make a cheapy solution, too.

Yes, maybe an ice cream tub is all I need ! And I could keep it handy on the work surface.

Thanks for the link. I can't read it for some reason, but I will try later

I use the old nappy bucket, has a nice tight fitting lid,got it from the local hardware store.I put a large folded piece of newspaper in the bottom so it empties more easily, every thing appart from meat and bones goes in just about.

I like this one

Could be the perfect size if I leave it on the floor. Thanks for the link !

For the nappy bin, we had a Sangenic for Abi. Don't know if that would be good enough :D

thats all we use - then a trip to the end of the garden at the end of each day to empty it!

the picture in your last post - we somehow managed to get one of these free when we order another compost bin via our local council -  so we took the lid off it and now use it on the same basis as the ice cream tub except for our recycled waste - that way we only do one trip outside to the bins each night!

I got my little caddy that sits on my draininag board from Betterware, but its only small, so I've got a bucket that site outside the kitchen door, if you empty it ever day or 2 you shouldn't get many flies buzzing around.

Mentioing Lakeland though, they do have catalogues that get pushed through doors if you live in civilized areas, but if you don't like we are then I occasionally look online at the catalogue.  They have some nice bits!!!
