Hi All,

Just have a thought yesterday while feeding my crops.
My Parsnips/Beet Root & Carrots are in a bed which has not had manure on it for two years, would watering with Miracle Grow cause problems with forked roots?

No.  But it might make the crops grow a lot of leaves and not too much root.

And while Miracle Gro will put on all that top growth, it won't add any flavour to the crops. Only manures and such can do that. Root crops can easily go 3 years without manuring, even a bit longer so don't worry about it. You can sort it all next year.

Forked roots only occur when they encounter something solid like stones, clumps of manure etc that they can't grow through. Phosphate is good for root development but if you want to feed, I would use Maxicrop general liquid fertilizer - it has seaweed tonic in it, and beetroots are supposed to like that (as do ferns) but don't overdo it - just feed a couple of times over the season.
