Title: New birds and one seems to be a bully?!
Post by: wellies101 on October 11, 2009, 19:16
Hi all

Just got our first birds, 4 in total. They are:

1X Red Ranger
1X Bovan Nera
1X Belle Blue
1X ISA Brown

They all get on fine with each other apart from the Bovan Nera which keeps a very beady eye on just the Red Ranger and the ISA. The Bovan doesn't harrass them all the time, but whenever it is within 4/5ft of them it goes for them, a peck to the rear end or the wing or the back of the head!

I know they will have a period of settling in and establishing who's the dominant bird. However, they've been in the run for 1.5 days now and its still going on. Is this something I should be more concerned about?

By the way the run is 60 sq metres which, I think, is ample for 4 birds so I don't think its a matter of lack of space.

Thanks

It is perfectly normal can go on for upto a month.  Not nice to watch but you have to leave them to get on with it.

Top Tip
Have more than one feed station and watering point.
That is where most of the confrontations occur.
