Am I soft???
« on: February 18, 2008, 17:35 »
I purchased a rotavator this weekend just gone and took it straight down to the allotment to try it out (I've never used one before.) I have rough dug half of the plot, the other half is still knee deep in weeds. (It's my first year on this plot.)
It started first time and away I went breaking the lumps up, after 10 minutes I was sweating buckets and after 20 minutes I decided to pack it in, I was knackered, my arms were hanging off.
This morning I had aches where i've never had them before.
I thought I was reasonably fit and strong having a physical job, am I using the rotavator wrong or am I just getting soft???

No your not getting soft. It happens to the best of us. Using muscles which don't normally get that sort of use.

Can't say if your using the rotavator wrong but I'm sure its just your muscles not use to the rotavator work.

But I'm no doctor :)

    the trick is to do it slow when your first turning it over, that way less vibration and you pull a lot of the roots up, if you run it fast then you will chop the roots up. Just remember one thing, KNOWONE has ever said it is easy having a lotty
