Help - bleeding from beak...
« on: March 21, 2009, 10:33 »
Hi all, in a bid to stop our smaller chooks being pecked to the point of injury (which has already happened) we put those plastic bits in the beaks of the two biggest bullys. The one we put it on this morning is now bleeding slightly from her beak. SWMBO thinks it is just from her trying to get it off, I think it may be caused by the plastic thing itself... any suggestions?
We have already done a careful period of separation and gradual reintroduction....
Thanks

Are they these?

If they are then I think, might be wrong but the plastic things actually have to pierce a section in the nostril to stay on ???

Might this be where the blood is coming from?

Sarah :)

Thanks for the reply, not sure, they appear to just clip into the nostril holes...
I'll keep an eye on her for a few hours and see how she gets on...
