arrgh what are they called???? :?: I have a herb bed. In there, we have lavender, sage, rosemary, thyme and oregano. I have this picture in my mins of a sheet of flexible corrugated plastic, on a roll, that you can cut to desired length. It is inserted into the soil, forming a boundary between plants. I want this to seperate the oregano, which has a creeping spreading habit, from the other plants, which are bushes.

The corrugated roll is about 8 inches wide and as long as the roll is. Am I imagining it (wouldn't be the first time), or does such a product exist? I can't seem to find it anywhere

Lawn edging perhaps  .

Sold in every GC in the country I expect.

Warning though if you use the very very cheap stuff it breaks up in sun light.

The oregano will spread regardless - it sets seed freely.  :D

arrrrg!

... actually, oregano spreading like a carpet around the rest of the herbs sounds rather nice.

I was surprised to see purple florets already forming, considering it has been in the ground for only a month or so. I shall pop out to the shops later today to get some of this edging. If it won't live in a discrete bunch, maybe I can make it live in a discrete bed. As much as I love oregano (especially with tomato), I don't want it taking over the entire plot.

Hi

You can buy metal lawn edging its galvanised sheet I think bit dearer but not affected by sunlight and physically a lot stronger doesn't break if you tread on it!!!

It'll pop up at various spots around your plot since the wind spreads the seeds.   It transplants very easily though.

Oops!  I did not know that - I love oregano, but I don't want to be responsible for an infestation and of my own doing!

Yep, I planted some in a herb bed on rooftop patio and took my eye off it now and again and now it's everywhere.  I had a recent blitz on it and got it back under some control, but vigilance is needed as it pops up all over the place.

nope - it's my fault - I'm not describing it right -

Imagine a long piece of flexible plastic that is rolled into a loose roll - that is how it's sold. It is corrugated down the vertical axis. It is usually green. You can cut it with tough scissors. It's made out of the same kind of stuff that plastic compost bins are made of, but the plastic is a bit more flexible. it's 6 to 8 inches on the vertical axis and as long as the roll is long along the horizontal.

I don't think linkboard would work on the undulating surface of my allotment   it looks like it wants a flat or flattish surface
