Scorzonera going to seed, advice

 Only planted these the 1st time this year so i could try something differenet and fresh to harvest in the winter.    
Got 30'ish plants on the go since april. One has gone to seed/bolted.
Do i leave it or cut this shoot out??????????

Sutty - I have a 12ft row of scorzonera, and one or two went to seed - I cut out the shoots, and would have done the same for onions.

You could leave it to flower and seed....but having had a couple of mine so far, I don't think I'll be using 10ft of space for these next year!! hehe - same with salisfy too....

Thanks Phill, i've got salsify too and have never eaten either, sounds like you werent impressed, i'll hang on and hope frost improves the taste :D

I grew some last year. We harvested a few, and were underwhelmed so I've left them to grow a second year in the hope they bulk up more.  Harvesting in second year (and maybe following years too?) was suggested in a gardening book I looked in, so maybe your one that bolted is not a problem?

They were thin (diameter) and had no taste :(
