The rain

Well, this morning started with me rescuing my female goose from the sluice gate, she had fallen down and was stuck, and the water was rising rapidly so we executed a rescue plan, took a while, and it was torrential rain, but we got her out and into the warm...

Then I went in to do my brooders, which are runs so are on the floor, to find my duckings huddled in a corner, on soaked through sawdust, shivering...as the room they were in had formed a river...second operation of the day, moving all the brooders...

Then I had breakfast!

so the rain continued right through the day and the time came to lock all the chickens away, well, I had almost swim across the pond to close the ex batts up and the pond level had risen and was slowly seeping into my baby silkies pen, Operation 3 of the day, move the silkies babies in the dark.

Last week our river and ponds were bone dry, now they are bursting their banks and causing bird disasters everywhere...Oh how I want the rain to stop

don't worry - as soon as the kids go back to school the weather will improve again
