« on: July 15, 2010, 17:44 »
I have nettle teabags in cupboard.  Do you think i could make up some tea for my plants? Would it work?

I'm sure that your plants would love it.

However, it seems a little extravagant to use something you've probably paid a small fortune for when it is so easy to make your own nettle tea with free ingredients.
The successes and failures of each year keep me motivated for the following year.

I tried making my own this year and have just started using it.  I'll let you know if it works but I know one thing already - it stinks to high heaven, almost as bad as a pig farm :)

Hi Sloegin, I had this at a re enactment weekend, apparently very popular in Medieval times.  They used fresh young nettle tops, (although spinach could work)  washed and then cooked for a few mins until wilted. Drain (the water can be used for your plants) squeeze out all moisture, add chopped garlic and fry then serve with home made oat cakes  :)
