Last year I reseeded my lawn with seed from Rowland (£££). The grass grew well but now I have a serious amount of white clover; far too much to remove by hand. I dont want a perfect lawn and I will not be using any weedkillers so does any one have any suggestions as to how I can control it in a natural way and help the grass win out a little more?

I have Birds foot trefoil, growing in huge patches on very wide grass verge.  I shall use a weed killer and have been advised that Evergreen 4-1 in the best to try.   Any comments to help please.  Mrs Bouquet

Hello Grubbypaws try a mechanical way ,hire a aerator with blades and a couple of passes with a box on should help,there isn't many domestic lawn weed killers that can take out Clover,there use to be clovertox that had Oxazidan in it   photo of a scarifier that will slice through clover  jezza

Maybe feed the lawn a bit more too, so that the grasses can outgrow the clover more easily.  Clover thrives because it can fix its own nitrogen.

The lawn was fed in mid April with a slow release food Miracle-Gro EverGreen Premium Plus. Would it be best to give it another feed with this or to use something that is not slow release? Any suggestions?

We have fed and raked and although the clover is still present the grass is doing much better. Should I consider an autumn feed as well and if so with what?

Glad it's helped, and yes, I'd apply an Autumn lawn food now.

Look for a slow-release one that will feed the grass for longer. 

Maybe also raise the height of the cut now too, if you've been cutting it shorter over Summer. Helps the grass as its growth slows down in the cooler weather.

If you let chickens on it, they'll scarify it and eat the clover for you, and feed the grass while they're there.
