Borehole
« on: July 30, 2013, 22:01 »
hi..we have no water supply on our allotment at Cannock..costs to install a  water main(with continuing bills) or have a borehole water abstraction system installed were both prohibitive..so...last year i decided to experiment and dig my own shallow borehole on the plot!
i first looked online on the Geographical Survey  website...it shows details of nearby boreholes
i'll spare you all the details..unless you want info...i went down to about 10ft..there was water there but eventually the hole collapsed...too many big stones!!
i mat try again!!

Your Youtube link returns "this video is private - sorry about that" for me Paulsol.

I'm interested in the details... If only from a nerdy point of view... Any info would be appreciated!

Please check for planning permission/water board permission as fines are given as our local company has found out.

You will need an extraction license from your water company !

You 'probably'only need an extraction license if you are taking more than 4000 gallons a day, but you need to ask if you are allowed to take any at all - according to the Environment Agency
