Title: The new hens and getting them to mix
Post by: Oliveview on January 13, 2011, 17:39
We put the 6 new hens in a fenced off bit of the garden and left them for 2 weeks and the other hens could see them.  We let them out and there has not been the usual squabbling and chasing like the last lot he had (we put them all in togerht and left them to sort it out!)
The new hens still go to ´their´ bit at night, we are going to start to put them in the roost with the other hens.... we want more hens soon so need the space the new hans are in.

We shut off the hens run and they all went and roosted on some tubing in the corner of the garden by their house so we put them on by one (with them complaining lots) in with th eother hens, making sure they were away from the turkey (she gets grumpy) all was fine, they now go in with the other hens no bother.  Come ´pay day´ we will go and buy another 6 rhode island red hens :D
