Title: How many hens?
Post by: Hayley'sHens on October 25, 2010, 11:22
I've just bought a 5ft x 7ft shed for the girls. I have 17 in it at the moment but it looks so empty even when they are all inside. I dont want them getting too cold over the winter, but nor do I want them being too cramped. So how many max would my shed hold?

a lot depends on how much room you have on the perches, if you allow 12" (30cms) per large fowl you can then work it out although they will cram into less space than this  ::).
Don't worry about them getting cold they will snuggle together and you can always put bales of straw etc in to take up the spare space  :D
