The mink killed our ducks last night. Couldn't believe it when I found them because they were shut in & everything looked normal from outside. It'd burrowed through a small hole at the back, where the concrete base dipped slightly away from the wooden wall. So now I'm worried it'll come back tonight for the hens next door. We've always relied on strong housing (& for over 30 years that's worked) but I'm wondering whether to borrow a trap & then I can at least kill the one that knows his way round here. Anyone any experience of trapping mink? How do you actually kill it if you get one in the trap?

I have not got experience, but I would think you would have to shoot it.
Be very careful if you catch one. They are armed with wicked teeth. Trying to handle one would be very dangerous.

If you catch it in a wire cage trap, popping the whole thing into a black bin liner and then filling it with exhaust gasses would dispatch it.

The dispatching of any trapped vermin must be done humanely not as recommended above. An air rifle would do the job but if you do not know how to effectively trap and dispatch the offending vermin you should employ the services of a professional vermin controller.
