I got up this morning and when let the chix and duck out I noticed one of the sultan hens were missing. When I checked back i'n their house I found her dead. I am do upset and cant understand it. She was fine yesterday and went to bed fine last night so can't understand what has happened. Any ideas? X I am soo gutted And this has never happened before x

Hi Muffin, welcome to the forums.

I'm so sorry about your hen, but these things do happen at times.  She could have been ill but hiding it well or she could just have had a heart attack.  They get them sometimes.

so sorry to hear your sad news muffin, but like Annie said these things can and do just happen however knowing that doesn't make the loss any easier to bear  .

Hi Muffin, sorry to hear about your chook, it's always difficult, especially when there is no obvious reason and animals are so clever at hiding illness.

I know exactly how you feel, when I went to the coop today, I found poor Bunty had died just when I thought she was getting better.

Big hugs to Muffin and Evie on your sad losses. Its such a shock when a seemingly well chooks passes away. Ive had a couple like that, but have put it down to heart attacks. However, you watch the rest like a hawk for a few days.
