We are trying to get a cheap featheredge or larch lap panel or anything that doesn't cost a £30 odd quid. But have been told there is a national shortage any one else heard this.
-
I'm in the same boat, supplier said it's because of the high winds we had earlier in the year stocks were used up,
Posts are in just waiting for panels

also ready for a clog dance I see. We were told it is because of the high winds as well.

major shortage here, the builders merchants are being rationed as to how many they can have (and the ones they're getting aren't much cop either)!
-
to do with those winds a few months back

hi there
just to let you know the trouble is we are currently having a massive timber shortage not enogh logs in this country and we cant import any more for now and the asians are buying what there is!
so the first thing that gets hit is the cheap bits ie laps for panels and then its closeboard (feather edge)
so for know its bear up with the holes or you use closeboard the company i work for has 2500 panels waiting to come in since mid feb!
if you need timber for you garden this summber get it now while there is some! this is going to take months to sort its self out!

timber is an awfull price,
a few months ago i made a T&G gate 6'x2'9" total price for all the timber was just under £70 and that was from a timber merchants not a B&Q place
-
again this is due to the shortages its a supply and demand thing!
2 months ago i could buy posts for 140m3 now i would have to pay 180m3!

Tough as price rises are on those least able to afford them, maybe people will value wood a bit higher, make tree growing more profitable (esp for third world) and encourage reforestation.
So much wood gets dumped that allotmenteers would re-cycle.
