Red Duke of York

We emptied our tub of red duke of york potatoes last week, reasonable number of lovely red potatoes. But the skin was a bit tough. Is this normal for this variety or did we leave them in the soil for too long?

Our 4 year old ate tham happily skin and all, they were his choice at the potato day  :D

I grew them this year and harvested them as much as a month ago or more & most of our kids moaned that they where hard skinned and we both thought they where a bit harder than most. So possibly its the variety, nice taste though.  :)

We liked the taste as well, the second time we had them I peeled them and they were better but it seemed such a  shame to peel off the beautiful red skin
