I've just caught the bottom with my strimmer will this be okay or can I treat it for that

It should be fine. Just leave it to heal on its own. I will probably scar but other than that it should be OK.

You could get one of those rabbit guards to wrap round for future strimming sessions.  As far as I know, it should be okay as long as the bark is not damaged all the way round the trunk.
