Introduced two ex battery hens to our girls at the weekend. One of them was laying the very next day. The other however, was a little more stressed with all the goings on and laid a soft shelled egg which we discovered on Tues Morning all squashed in the coop... Yesterday morning though she was as bright as a button and left us this unexpected prezzie... It's massive... The egg on the right is a "large" egg from the supermarket..... Think I'll pop out to the vets now... just to make sure she really is a chicken and that I've not mistakenly got an ostrich

She'll get into her stride and will probably lay normal sized eggs from now on.  She is an ex-batt so might not lay millions    If she's happy and without stress she'll probably have more to come

We should have a competition... Biggest eg of the month competition. Obviously just for fun, no prizes that could encourage people to cheat... Take a photo of your egg on the scales and send it in ha ha!

We once had an egg that weighed 135gms    We didnīt have an egg cup big enough for it

Oh stop it... making my "massive" egg look like a quale egg 

Thats a cracker..... My lass had another huge one yesterday but much more normal size today, still a decent size. One of my POL's has started laying too, a soft shell but I believe that can be the case sometimes with first few eggs?

Hehe, that is the biggest for her, we normally get one double yolk from her a week but I think now it is because she is coming to the end of her egg laying days and none this big. It was a bit of a shocker  :blink:
