I was supprised when I went to the birds and found my first blue egg in well over four months! I can't wait to crack it open to see whether the aracauna has got into lay or whether the CLB has decided she's fit to start again

Yeah hope so! We were on five or six a day, but last week it dropped to one or two if we were lucky. Hopefully it will pick up again soon  Over the moon I've got another blue egg again though!

My araucanas just started to lay end of Jan for the first time ever!!! Now getting 3 eggs a week off each of them

An aracauna egg shell is blue inside and out, but in theory a CLB is blue on the outside and white on the inside.

I have aracauna x poland hens and cream legbar x somehting hens... do you think it will work to tell who is laying out of mine

The blue egg gene is the dominant gene so anything crossed with Aracauna will lay blue eggs, albeit perhaps a shade or two lighter. I guess the same would happen with a CLB cross, although it may be lighter again   

I must say I have all kinds of images of aracuana x poland crosses and they each bring a smile to my face. You'll definately have to put some photos up and let us know about the eggs, that'd be interesting as well!!!

remember though when you crack open an araucana egg it will still have the white membrane in and this needs peeling to see the blue inner. True Aracana eggs come in all shades (I have a shade card) and there are loads on there ranging from almost white through sky blue to a darkish green and all are from pure aras.

Thanks for that joy. We know its the aracauna now, she was running in and out the coop making a noise most of yesterday and when I put them away I found another blue egg. I was expecting them a bit darker, but looking at what you said glad its not white (not that theres a problem with that  ). I suppose they could get darker with age as well.

the first few can be very very pale - almost to the point of you thinking you have been sold a dud, but once in the swing of things the colour sorts itself out

Got my first bluey today too..... how lovely   Dont want to crack it though to see whose it is.... I want to hatch it

Im waiting to see if my 'new' Araucana will EVER lay an egg, as we  have doubts whether our POL is actually 2 or 3 years old!! I think they saw a newbie coming
