Back Gone Again but Keeping On
« on: April 01, 2022, 08:50 »
My back has gone again which is incredibly frustrating. Hard to explain but it’s different to last time in that the pain is in on the right hand side now. Some relief from the osteopath but it’s not a quick fix. Still, things getting are done with a lot of help.

Hope it eases soon, nothing like back pain to make you feel miserable, when there's loads to do :(

Oh dear  :(

Be kind to your back, but keep moving. Get well soon!

Oh dear sorry to hear that. You may want to look into increasing your core strength to protect your back, that & yoga might be worth a try

There are specific back exercises but at the moment standing up from a sitting position requires planning! Fed up to the back teeth with it.

Oh yes, certainly not now whilst your in pain but certainly worth pursuing once you can manage it. Look at it as preventative. Has worked wonders for me, also a jacuzzi bath helped at our old house but never got to have one here at the new one!

There's nowt worse than a bad back John.. I've had one since I put mine out digging up some concrete when I was 18.. there's still times I need to be careful, but these days I always seem to get a warning sign that it's 'about to go'.. thats when I know to take it easy for a bit... fingers crossed it doesn't last too long for you!

Thanks everyone. The osteopath has really helped in today's session. She reckons the problem this time is coming from my pelvis due to sitting at the desk & computer rather than lifting. So trying to be very aware of my posture and not lean forward whilst working.
Reminds me of when I used to drive a lot - had backaches then which I sorted with the London A-Z in the small of my back. Made finding places difficult, though  :D

Poor you, John!

Have you tried one of those large inflatable ball seats?

They sort of 'throw' your posture forward, and this rearranges the relationship of the spine and pelvis and is strangely very comfortable! Also, you are constantly moving slightly, so helping circulation as well!

Not heard of those ball seats - I'll ask the osteo what she thinks. Val's just got a gaming chair - she says it is very comfortable although it looks like it belongs in a spaceship!

So sorry to hear this John - hope that the osteopath can get you sorted out quickly  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

It's more for computer gaming than poker :)

Actually seems to be improving - stood up without a stabbing pain yesterday. Surprised when I realised.

Glad to hear things are starting to improve John. When you feel more like doing activity, ease into it lightly and gradually.

I manage to do my back in a couple times a year, usually while hoiking compost or something else heavy out of the truck.
