Title: Chard

Is it normal for Chard to fall over after a decent bit of rain. The plants are still youngish, about a foot tall. They topple where they enter the ground. They are a very pale green colour also, not like I see pictures of.

Hello Russell

My best guess, without a photo, is possibly not enough light?  That is just a guess, because I don't know your growing conditions.  Another guess, did you start seedlings (indoors perhaps) and later transplant them outside?

You my be able to buttress around the base of the plants with soil or something, see if you can keep them from wobbling over.

I hope you find a solution.

Have they fallen over after one, particularly heavy, bout of rain, or are they falling over after any decent rain?

Are they standing back up again in between, or do they stay down once they are down?

They were direct sown and I would say they get about 5 hrs sun a day. They fall over regularly after more or less any rain, but stand again after 2/4 days. But I have been thinking that if they continue to grow and don't strengthen up, maybe they won't keep recovering. I will try to buttress them as of Subversives suggestion.
