hi all just spent a couple of hours pruning grape vine and noticed these little alien things on the vine must be hundreds of them, easy to remove but inside appears to be a white powder anyone know what they are and if they are unwanted.  reminds me of the day of the triffids what action do i take.....is it time for Dr. Who.

It's a scale insect, they need to be removed. You can probably get a spray or I think you can use methylated spirits blob bed on them

thanks snowdrops will get on the case.....never noticed them before didnt think they were insects/animal just thought  they were like a spore on vine. will donate a drop of meths to them
