Plot timber "edging"
« on: January 12, 2019, 11:14 »
Hi chaps, I am starting my second year and feel like a tidy up and am considering using some old floor boards as edging. My real question, will it be more of a problem when strimming and mowering than it's worth ?

I've already made a path through the middle so it will be a similar project.

If you don't need to edge the beds, I'd leave them without the wooden edges.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

It can be a hidey hole for slugs so I’d go without if you can.

Edging works well for strimming and mowing, also helps stops the couch grass getting into the bed. Never had problems with slugs/snails but have to replace in 3/4 years as they will rot unless you buy decking and treat it every few years.

Thanks for the advice, I'm inclined to avoid doing it (saves me the effort) - maybe I'll tidy and straighten the edges up and see how we get on for a while ...
