What type of bird is that GB?

This is a young Blue Tit. A species similar to the USA's Chickadee and Titmice.

I was going to recommend a Worx Trimmer (I've had mine 10 years now) but looked at the price, nowadays, with battery and charger
So I won't  :nowink:

Same here, 12C and persisting down  :( Fred has decided he can patrol the garden, by sitting on my chair in the greenhouse  ::) (the overnight low in there was 7C)

Still at least the Met Office have had to stop using scary red on their TV forecasts...

Piggy day #4, then off to the freezer with the leftovers.  Also considering using the rest of the apple sauce for a crumble

Has anyone used nematodes?
If so where from and how effective.
I've found them good for potatoes in the past but haven't used for years but think I will have to this year.
I have used nematodes in the past for spud protection. You have to get the timing right in terms of soil temperature etc. I think they had an effect but it’s very difficult to establish how much as you would need a controlled study with them on a bit of the plot versus none on another. Personally I ended up thinking the old pellets were better.
A range of companies have nematodes I think I bought from “gardening naturally” make sure you get the ones designed to attack slugs. Good luck !! HH

It's been raining all night and it's still raining now. It's a positively balmy British summer at 12c, it's dark, it's grey and it's damp. Even the dog has refused to go for a walk around the park and taken himself back to bed.

My advice is to get six bottles of the strongest beer you can find. Triple Westmalle is one of the most potent beverages here in Belgium. Drink the first one, then the second one, sit down now and drink the third one,...by the time you have finished the sixth bottle you will have just as many slugs to contend with but after six Triple Westmalles you won't give a sod about the pests.

Anton

P.S. Yes, it's a dreadful year for slugs.

:D  I like your thinking Anton!

I really need to go to specksavers, I keep reading this as “Puppy” advice needed! 🤓
I did as greenjay suggested and got a few from my plot neighbour. Only one took but now it reappears perennially, so hope it will be happy enough to self seed in years to come.
I have had good success with just throwing packets of Welsh and Californian poppies onto bare ground but those are definitely annuals.
Good luck wolveryeti!
