couch grass roots
« on: February 06, 2013, 19:33 »
I am removing a load of couch grass, but wondered, when taking out the roots, do I just remove the thick fleshy root or do I need to take out the thinner fiberous roots as well?

Thanks

Steve

Its a nightmare weed , if you leave any bit of it in the ground it will regrow .

Its a time consuming effort  to get of it but if you don't it will be harder to remove with veg

  planted .

Something satisfying about finding a really long root and tracing it back to where it emanates (if that's ever really possible without going to the centre of the earth )  Then you burn it and listen to it sizzle.  Evil cackles are compulsory  :D

I agree with everyone else -- if you can see it then pick it out - worth the effort in the long run.
My dad used to say just speaking its name would lead to an invasion. We call it "twitch" (and other things) up here -- no doubt because of the reaction it brings to those who suffer it's presence in a garden for any length of time.
