Any clues on what this is?
« on: July 18, 2019, 08:43 »
Morning All,

Not sure if I’m posting in the correct section...

I found this little chap (or chap-ess) hanging out on a raspberry bush.

It looks fairly fearsome and we have children so I’m wondering what it is.

Many thanks

Simon

Good morning si. hyde,
I'll start the ball rolling with Orgyia vetusta. The Western tussock moth caterpillar.

DON'T TOUCH - exept when wearing gloves.  The mature female looks like a ball of white (ish) fluff and cannot fly.  The male looks like a brown moth!

Cheers,  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Many thanks! It’s now been relocated into a field ‘over the fence’ before the kids want to play with it ;-)

:-) Thank you again! :-)
