Cucumber seeds Is it too late to put the seeds into the ground
-
The RHS says
Outdoor cucumbers can be sown directly into the soil in late May and early June

So go for it :)

You can speed them up a little by starting them off inside the house with two seeds in each 3 inch pot of compost. When above the compost, remove the weaker seed, and place pots outside in a sheltered spot. Transfer to open ground when each has six leaves growing well.

It is not too late.
For my greenhouse cucumbers and gherkins I sow in mid April and plant out early May, now all producing flowers.
I always sow my outdoor cucumbers mid to end May and have never had any problems doing that.
Sow the seeds so they sit on their thin side, not sure why but I was given this tip many years ago and they germinate much quicker.
Make sure they have their true second leaf before planting on.
I sowed a second load of my ones destined for outdoor 6 days ago and all those cucumbers and gherkins have germinated nicely.
