Some of you will probably be aware of this type as I am, but I've just had one from EON about a supposed overpayment of my electricity bill but I'm not with them so ya boo sucks! In any case I saw it on a prog the other day and someone was scammed out of £7,000 because she gave them her bank details for the refund then they said they'd made an error and put too much in by mistake so they needed to take it out and replace it with the correct amount - yeah right - and she lost all of her money.

we had a sky scam the other day they called to say we needed to update our sky insurance but my wife asked them why we needed to update our payment as we already had three months left on our present agreement

they said you pay now or we cancel your insurance  then my rumbled them and a few choice words followed and they ended the call so we phoned sky and they confirmed it as a scam call

a friend of our told us he hardly ever gets scams  when he knows its a cam call he blows a whistle as loud as he can down the phone he never gets the same scan again so all I want for Christmas is a whistle pref a football whistle

According to my spam filter, I have the following: -

Eight appointments with a certain type of lady
Fifteen parcels to be collected from Royal Mail
Three shipments from Nigeria to pay for
A lottery win from Tanzania
Ten cures for tinnitus

and a chance to test three vacuum cleaners...

It really must be Christmas after all!

I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my "mail client" because I have private and an allotment association email addresses. It's pretty good at filing the spam but I do have to keep an eye as sometimes online orders end up in the wrong place. But the system is pretty good in that it allows you to add email addresses to a specific list of "spammers". That's cut down my list of the sort of things that Growster has collected.

Someone tried to tell me that by text that I had a parcel from Royal Mail that hadn't been delivered. Some of the regular posties know where the greenhouse here is and others can write on the cards they carry.  Shame that I'm not expecting any parcels via Royal Mail (Hermes had just delivered the last one that was on order).

Unexpected phone call yesterday from an Indian gentleman ('Dave' from 'BT'  )

Only answered it because it was a spoofed Sheffield number - I wished him a Merry Christmas (well, two words, perhaps not exactly those two!)

I keep getting a phone call from Carphone Warehouse. I've asked them to take me off their distribution list, but to no avail. Next time, it's a report to the Information Commissioners' Office
