I don't live that far from you Sheadhead so looks snow could be on its way towards me!
I have put off planting my spuds for ages. I've ended up starting some of them off in those green planter bags but you use loads of compost.
Another thread did say that if the spuds are planted deep and there is no foliage it should be OK. At least that is what I think it said......  best you check.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Is the manure old or new as in does it have straw in it? I ask only because last year I planted my potatoes and covered them with manure with straw in and this seemed to kill them off. A fellow plot holder said it was because the manure was too fresh (so generated heat) and it 'cooked' the spuds? Or was I bit green to believe him?

Oops
It was a bag of farmyard manure from homebase, no straw in it and i presume it will be well rotted.  Looked and smell like compost.
Should i replant them you think?

I think your manure is how it should be and it's me that did it wrong. I am learning all the time so please do not replant. See what others say in the forum?  :D

Shed head will be safe - it will be well rotted.

It's not good practice to use fresh manure on any plants, it can "burn" them, but not in the heat sense of the word - fresh is too strong for them.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
